Retrofitting a welding system for pipes

Modernized clamping and positioning technology

for flexible and reliable pipe production

Customer requirement

For the production of large-format pipes, an existing welding system was modernized to process different pipe sizes more flexibly and efficiently. The existing clamping technology no longer met current requirements in terms of process reliability, flexibility, and ease of operation. In addition, the system was to be adapted to modern safety and control standards.

Our solution

BKLS implemented a comprehensive retrofit of the welding beam, including extending the clamping technology and integrating new pneumatic clamping elements. Mechanical components were completely replaced and modernized.

To enable flexible processing of different pipe diameters, an electro-hydraulic height adjustment system was also developed and integrated. For this purpose, the welding beam was installed in a specially designed steel frame with counterweights. The entire system is controlled via modern Siemens control technology in electro-pneumatic and electro-hydraulic versions.
